Independent Cooperation Council of Independent Provincial Candidates on their first day after they start officially on Thursday to their electoral activity emphasized on a transparent and fair election.
The Council consist of 34 provinces candidate and the member raised their concerns on possible Govt interference in upcoming election and wants prevention on any possible meddling in election process.
“We are concerned from interference of some people in election process and we want responsible institutions to not allow influential individual to interfere in election process,” Kabul provincial candidate Selab Waziri said.
“We want a fair, transparent and without fraud election,” Ghazni provincial candidate said.
The council member raised their concern over elimination of government supervision activities article by Lower house and asks the upper house to include the article once again to the provincial council law.
“We want from representative’s house to include the government supervision article to provincial council law once again,” Bamyan provincial candidate said.
The comments come after the Interior Minister Mohammad Omar Daudzai on Saturday cautioned foreign and Afghan officials that the Taliban insurgency is trying to destabilize the Presidential and Provincial Council elections set for April.
Based on the Election Law, the Presidential election campaigns start on February 2 and will continue through March 13, while the Provincial Council candidates will be be allowed to start their election campaigns on March 4 and continue through April 2.
