Presidential candidate Zalmai Rassoul spoke in front of a crowd on Monday in northern Baghlan province addressing security issues, the fight against corruption and encouraging supporters to participate in the upcoming election.
“Election transparency is very important for us,” Rassoul said. “I am concerned that candidates who are not running campaigns could commit fraud. We ask that the responsible institutions prevent any riggings and fraud in the upcoming election."
Rassoul promised the people of Baghlan to facilitate agriculture development as well as constructing a dam if elected as the next president of Afghanistan.
“Baghlan is an agricultural province,” Rassoul said. “In case we win the election, we will construct a dam in Baghlan.”
Attending the event was Rassoul’s first vice president, Ahmad Zai Massoud, who emphasized on the Mujahideen’s role in Afghanistan’s political process.
