According to Kabul Police officials, 14 million AFG, or roughly 250,000 USD, was stolen from a branch of New Kabul Bank in the Baraki area of Kabul city on Sunday night.
Preliminary investigations were said to indicate three staff-members of the bank branch were behind the robbery.
Kabul Police Chief Gen. Mohammad Zaher Zaher said that two of the accused staffers had already been arrested, while the third suspect remained at large.
"We will soon arrest him as well," assured Gen. Zaher.
One of the men was said to be a member of the branch's technical staff and managed to disable all the electronic equipment at the branch, including its security system, allowing the thieves to enter the bank undetected.
