In light of the recent killings of Afghan security forces' personnel in Badakshan, several MPs on Saturday blamed the government over its failure to curb the sudden growth of terror activities in the province.
On Thursday, 18 Afghan National Police (ANP) personnel were killed and 13 others injured when a group of insurgents ambushed them in the Wardoj district of Badakshan province.
The MPs said the several insurgents' groups are trying to create insecurity in Badakhshan province, so that people cannot participate in the next spring's elections. The incident happened after the Afghan Security forces expressed confidence in the security situation of the district and assured that security forces have gained complete control.
The MPs added that the government is involved in activities which are making the province insecure. They said that some politicians are putting in efforts to prevent the people from participating in the upcoming elections.
"The politicians are responsible for the current situation in Wardoj district. They are making plans to kill our people and make Badakhshan insecure, so that people cannot take part in the upcoming elections," said MP Fazal Azeem Mujadadi.
Additionally, MP Latif Pedram blamed the Americans and British for the Thursday's incident in Badakshan.
"Exactly and clearly, the Americans and British are behind the killings in Badakshan province," said MP Pedram.
Meanwhile, the Administrative Board of the Lower House issued orders to the Committee of Defense, and Internal Security Committee of the Lower House to investigate the Wardoj killings.
Off late, the insurgents have intensified their terror activities in Wardoj district. According to the Badakhshan MPs, over 250 Afghan Security Forces have been killed in the district.
