The Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS) officials on Sunday confirmed that 52 insurgents of Pakistani nationality were arrested by the department over a period of four months from several areas in Afghanistan.
Mohammad Shafiq Taheri, spokesman of the NDS, at a news conference said that these 52 insurgents had received training to carry out terror attacks in several tribal areas of Pakistan.
"During the four months, 52 Pakistani insurgents who were undergoing training to carry out terror attacks were arrested by the NDS," Mr. Taheri told reporters.
Meanwhile, Mr. Taheri pointed out that Security Forces have successfully prevented several terror attacks on the Afghan National Assembly, the Ministry of Finance, a department of the NDS and Kabul Serena Hotel.
The NDS reported that two of the Taliban's shadow governors in Jowzjan and Takhar provinces were arrested and 50 Afghans and 3 foreign citizens have been rescued from kidnappers during various operations over a span of one month in the country.
