Residents in the Afghan capital city of Kabul have said that movements of high-ranking government officials and foreign guests always dismantle daily life in the city. Today the arrival of heads of states from Nowruz-zone countries disrupted traffic because of the closure of several roads linking to the Presidential Palace.
Kabul has witnessed tough security measures for the past two days, and all roads linking to the Presidential Palace were blocked Thursday morning. Kabul residents, especially those trying to reach hospitals, faced transportation problems as roads were closed without any official statements to inform the public.
"There are a lot of problems. My son is ill and I carried him from Cinema Pamir to Wazir Akbar Khan hospital on my shoulder," Kabul resident Mariam said.
Kabul residents have expressed frustrations over the issue and asked the government to address their concerns.
"Laborers cannot reach home because of the roadblocks," Kabul resident Habibullah said.
"Roadblocks create major problems for the people," another resident Kazim said. "We wait for hours on the footpath to reach our homes. Government officials must focus on public concerns. Families with patients are facing serious problems because of this."
As roadblocks continue to disrupt the lives of Kabul residents, the government has yet to address the issue.
