Local officials on Saturday said that Khairullah Anosh, the Governor of northern Samangan province along with his two bodyguards were injured in a roadside bomb blast.
The incident took place at around 7 am, when Khairullah Anosh's vehicle fell prey to a roadside bomb in Aybak, capital of the province.
"The Provincial Governor is fine and survived the attack. He escaped with minor injuries and his condition is stable," said Mohammad Akram Bekzad, Provincial Police chief.
The police chief added that they have started investigating the incident. So far, no group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast.
Off late, insurgents have become active in the province and target the local security forces.
