Jalili was born in the Rodat district of eastern Nangarhar province in 1974. He graduated from Balkh’s Naw Bahar High School in 1990 and finished a degree at the Medical University of Kabul in 2000.
Jalili, by his own account, has been occupied for the past 17 years with business activities, but five years ago he entered politics.
His running mates as first and second vice president are writer and researcher Khalil Roman and university lecturer and surgeon Chiragh Ali Chiragh, respectively.
