The Polish-backed Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team office was attacked by a group of insurgents Wednesday evening.

Two Afghan National Police officers and one civilian bystander were killed in the attack. Twenty others were reported to have suffered injuries.

The attack began when a explosives-laden vehicle was detonated in front of the Provincial Reconstruction Team's office gate and a group of insurgents attempted to penetrate the building, firing at everything in their way.

The Deputy Governor of Ghazni reported that the attackers launched their attack from a building near the Reconstruction Team's office where they were hidden.

The battle ended around 5:00pm when Afghan security forces were able to take control of the situation.

The Taliban announced responsibility for the attack .
