TAKANI: The Candidates Jirga

Efforts to form a coalition between Qayoum Karzai and Dr. Zalmai Rassoul failed, as none of the candidates gave up in favor of the other.

Qayoum Karzai and a number of Jirga members announced on Friday afternoon that Karzai will continue his presidential campaign. Supposedly, the decision was based on the propositions of 187 Jirga members.

It comes as, the Independent Elections Commission has send a letter to the Presidential Palace for further information about the Jirga in the Presidential Palace.

In this episode of Takani, host Zabihullah Sadaat discuss the topic with the following guests:

•         Hamidullah Farooqi, a member of Ashraf Ghani-Ahmadzai’s electoral campaign office
•         Fazl Rahman Oria, a spokesman for Abdullah Abdullah’s electoral campaign office
•         Kamal Sadaat, political analyst.
