When the deadline for registration of electoral complaints by candidates ended on Monday at 7:00 p.m. officials had received a total of 121 new complaints. The adjudication of those complaints is expected to begin on Wednesday and be completed by May 8.
For the candidates, the ECC has provided a private forum for them to air grievances and concerns about the election process. Following the announcement of preliminary results on Saturday, a number of candidates were quick to file new complaints with the commission.
"Four complaints have been filed by Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, and Gul Agha Sherzai and Daoud Sultanzoy have filed one complaint each," ECC spokesman Nader Mohseni said on Tuesday. "The remaining 115 complaints have been filed by Dr. Abdullah."
Some of the complaints were reportedly filed against Abdullah Abdullah, Ashraf Ghani, Qutbuddin Helal, Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf, Zalmai Rassoul and Gul Agha Sherzai.
