The Afghan security forces are fully prepared to provide security for the upcoming elections, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in response to a warning by the Taliban insurgent group against participating in the April polls.
The Taliban issued a statement this month warning Afghan citizens not to take part in the elections or they could suffer the consequences of militant violence planned to disrupt the process.
IEC Spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor derided the Taliban press release and reaffirmed the IEC's commitment to secure, transparent and credible elections.
