Female provincial council candidates on Tuesday raised voice over security threats that could overshadow election campaigns. The candidates demanded that the security institutions undertake effective measures to ensure security of the forthcoming elections and campaigns.
Meanwhile, Afghan Women’s Resource Center (AWRC) has announced to undertake a two-day, capacity-building workshop for the female members of the provincial council.
“َAfghan Women’s Resource Center has initiated a two day workshop to further upgrade the capacity of provincial council candidates in order to help them complete responsibilities in a good manner,” AWRC Chairperson Mariam Rahmani said.
The female provincial council candidates have said they have participated in the election in a male-dominated society and emphasized on unbiased approaches and security cooperation.
“The security forces must seriously focus on the security of female provincial council candidates so that they can conduct campaigns in a peaceful environment,” Provincial Council Candidate Hamida Wardak said.
“We are running in elections in a male dominated society," another candidate Zuhra Nawabi added. "We hope that there is no discrimination against women."
“We request that the security forces seriously divert their attention to the provincial councils elections and maintain better security for the female candidates,” candidate Nargis Ludin said.
