Voting in the election is an Islamic obligation and credible and comprehensive explanation on election and voting will be provided to the Afghan people through mosques, religious scholars said on Thursday in Khost.
In the special gathering conducted on elections, religious dignitaries described the vitality of elections from the Islamic perspective and said that there were no restrictions on casting ballots in the elections from the Islamic viewpoint.
“The religious scholars will motivate people to cast votes in the elections within the framework of Islamic theology and the venue for this campaign will be the mosques,” Khost Pilgrims Affair Department chairman Maulavi Abdul Qadir Shah said.
“The role of religious scholars in public awareness about the election is quite effective, we hope that the scholars use their influence and contribute in this sphere,” a religious scholar from Khost, Maulavi Nasrullah Qasimi, added.
Meanwhile, some women and girls in Khost province have said that they would largely participate in the upcoming elections.
“Despite family restrictions, women in Khost province will strive to use their right and vote in the elections, and this participation will be large,” Khost resident Kamila Akbari said.
Based on the statistics issued by the provincial headquarters of the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC), until now 80,000 eligible voters have received voting cards of which 30,000 are female voters.
