At least 4 police officers were killed and 17 other military forces injured early Monday morning when a suicide bomber drove a truck packed with explosives into a police base in Maidan Wardak province, local officials said.
The incident took place in Nerkh district of the province, according to Attaullah Khoghyani, the spokesman of the provincial Governor.
"The victims were taken to the nearby hospital and four of the wounded are in critical condition," Khoghyani said.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.
A separate blast in Nangarhar province on Monday afternoon wounded eight students.
Nangarhar provincial spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said that the blast took place in front of Nangarhar Education faculty.
"The explosives were placed in a motorbike and as the result eight students of the faculty were wounded," Abdulzai said.
