Local official on Saturday confirmed the deaths of three people, including a local police officer, in a suicide attack that happened at a hospital in western Farah province. Four others were also injured in the attack.
According to reports, the attack took place Saturday afternoon when an unidentified suicide bomber slipped by security and detonated explosives inside a private hospital.
The injured persons are being treated at the same hospital and are said to be in stable condition.
Meanwhile, provincial security officials said that the target of the attack was Abdul Jalil, a former provincial police chief. "Abdul Jalil has survived the attack, but most of the victims were his bodyguards," they said.
No doctors or patients were killed or injured in the attack.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. A police investigation is already underway.
