Local officials on Tuesday said that the Taliban has destroyed several bridges on the Kabul-Logar and Logar-Paktia highways. Off late, the Taliban insurgents have intensified their terror activities in the area and are destroying several bridges with an aim to disrupt peace.
In a span of one month, the Taliban insurgents have destroyed more than 10 bridges by using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the Mohammad Agha district of Logar province.
Residents of Logar province expressed their concerns over the issue and said that many civilians have been killed in the attacks launched by the insurgents.
"Commuters are worried about the frequent bomb blasts that occur on the Kabul-Logar highway. Most of the victims are civilians, and this is un-Islamic," said a resident of Logar.
"The Taliban is always trying to destroy the bridges on the Logar highway by using IEDs," said another Logar resident.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hamid Hamid, Governor of Mohammad Agha district, said that the Taliban is carrying out such attacks because they do not want the region to develop and are dead against any development project works.
It is high time that the government takes stringent measures and captures the perpetrators responsible for disrupting peace and causing damage to the highway.
